Book Week Extravaganza

It was wonderful to see the support of our school families with the number and wide variety of costumes paraded by students who enjoyed dressing up for Book Week  –  a fun day for all!

Book Week is a time to ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’! Dating back to 1913 Children’s Book Week evolved when Franklin K. Matthews, the librarian of the Boy Scouts of America, began touring the country to promote higher standards in kids’ books. He proposed a special week each year to celebrate his belief that literacy was life-changing.

As well as creating an amazing display and some special lunch time reading activities the library ran some Book Week competitions – congratulations to the winners. The sale of second-hand books and DVD’s also took place.
