Special Days

It’s wonderful to see our school community participate in the special days held this term! Support ensures the success of these events and it is much appreciated.

National Walk Safely to School Day

It was fantastic to see our school community supporting ‘Walk Safely To School Day’ – an event which promotes being active and road safety skills. Students were greeted by our local police and were presented with stickers! Congratulations to the three winners of the colouring competition.

P&C Day

A special morning tea was held to thank our wonderful P&C for all their past work and future support in fundraising for the school. Thank you to all staff who donated the yummy treats enjoyed by all who attended.

Cup Cake Stall – Year 6 Camp Fundraiser

It’s official – everyone loves cupcakes! Thank you to everyone who donated cupcakes to sell at the Year 6 Camp Fundraiser and to all the students and staff who enjoyed eating them!

National Simultaneous Reading Day

Be sure to visit the library to see the wonderful display for National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS). NSS is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). A picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 23nd successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

On 24th May, the day students rotated through the library for story-time, with this year’s book being ‘The Speedy Sloth’ by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie. Encouraging reading is a great way to help your child develop important Literacy skills.

‘Wear It Yellow’

Riverside Primary School participated in ‘Wear It Yellow,’ an annual campaign held by Children’s Ground during National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June). Schools, workplaces and organisations are encouraged to wear yellow clothing for a day.
