Year 6 Snapshots

Our year six students have been working hard and have provided some snapshots of their work and activities over the last term.

Year 6 Team Building

We have been learning to work together as a team. First off, we did cup towers. We used cups, elastic bands and ribbons to make the towers. We had to try to stack the cups without touching the cups with our hands, using all the people in our group. Then, we played a game called human knot where we had to hold each other’s hands and try to untie ourselves without letting go. It was lots of fun.

Anzac Day

This year on Anzac Day at Riverside Primary School, we wrote postcards pretending to be soldiers in WW1, to send to Mum, Dad, Nan, and Pop, to tell them about our experiences. Next, we had a piece of paper that had a little solder on it.  We used oil pastel to make the background. Last, we have the assembly. We had to be very quiet. We got told about the Ode and about the soldiers who died for us. We stood up and listened to the trumpets while our heads were down, thanking the soldiers who fought for us, for risking they lives for us.

Flippa Ball

Flippa ball was exciting. At first, we watched some of the MARC employees demonstrate how to play. Then we got into it. We played against a lot of schools, and we won about 4 games for team 1 and team 2 got about 6 wins and it was very fun. We trained in the deep end of the outside pool and versed the schools in the shallower pool. All schools had different strengths, but in the end, no team was clearly better than the next.

Wishing Tales

In English we learnt how to create a wishing tale. We had to write on a wishing tale: planning first, then writing a draft and finally, publishing our story. It took a while for some people, but they figured it out. We had to do an opening paragraph, build up paragraph, a problem paragraph, a resolution paragraph and an ending paragraph.

League Tag

Hello everyone, this is the photo of the year 5/6s that went to the League Tag Carnival in 2024. There was a girl team and a boy team. The girl team came second place, and the boy team came fifth. The boy team did have some slick moves up their sleeves, like when Colt and Noah both took the ball from the other team when the second receiver on the opponent’s team passed to first receiver. Colt quickly ran through the middle of them. He got the ball and ran all the way down to the tri line and scored a tri.
