On Monday 20th March, Riverside’s Student Leaders went to Perth for the day to the Convention Centre for the National Young Leaders Day Conference.
We started by travelling by train with Mrs Cairns and our Chaplain, Jackie. Buzzing with excitement, we couldn’t wait to arrive.
Throughout the day we listened to a number of inspirational, high-profile Australians talk about their journey as a leader. The speakers were Eliza Greene – a pro surfer, James Foley – an incredible author and illustrator, Matthew Pavlich – an admirable past Fremantle Dockers Captain, and the honourable Simone McGurk Mla, The Minister for Youth.
We learned some amazing tips on perseverance, positive self-talk, great leadership qualities and to believe in ourselves. During the breaks we had a fun time playing under the trees and getting autographs.
After our amazing day in Perth, we all said that we want to aspire to be amazing leaders when we grow up like those four incredible speakers we listened to.
